> Hey! :)
> This fanfiction is based on **Punches and Plants**, drawn by SuperRisu. If you haven't read it already, it's definitely worth it -> [Part I](https://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/community/community-spotlight/punches-and-plants-piltover-police-story) [Part II](https://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/page/punches-and-plants-piltover-police-story-2)
> In the comic, it is said that Zyra graduated top of the class at the academy. And this leaves the question - how did she do that?
> So i'm coming up with the answer, featuring puns, nerdy jokes, anime-ish clichés and references to pretty much everything.
> I tried to keep the style of the comic and so of course the characters are less serious and more fun.
> I'd appreciate your feedback :)

#Puns and Plants
**Chapter 2: Getting up & ready!**
Zyra woke up as a long fingernail gently caressed her cheek. It was Elise, who was already dressed up in her uniform and was ready to go.
"Good morning, my little rosebud. Sleeping-time's over, unfold your leaves and get ready."
No sun was shining through the window, it was still dark outside. Zyra sat upright, putting her head in the hands.
"Ugh, i'm no morning-person, really. I feel... harvested." she mumbled. She then rubbed her face and looked around, noticeing somebody was missing.
"Where- Where's Kai'Sa?" "Oh, she's not always that sleepy. She can be quite... energetically when it comes to certain things. You'll know fast enough."
Elise answered while she passed Zyra her uniform. Zyra stood up and strumbled to the bathroom like a zombie.
Way too early, not enough sleep and worst of all, no sun to cheer her up...
She wasn't surprised as she saw herself in the mirror. Her face looked just like a monster in one of those extreme-low-budget-rip-off-horror movies she used to watch alot a couple of years ago. She opened the tap and let some water fill the sink. Her eyes where like tiny holes, leading directly into the void. The red leaves on her head had fallen to pure chaos again and the big purple ones from her ears and forehead stand up in different directions, which made her look like a windmill. She tried to focus on her reflection but her vision blurred more and more the harder she tried.
The next moment she opened up her eyes, the world was cold as ice. She pulled her head out of the water in an instant.
Cold. As. The Freljord.
She must've been fallen asleep and hit the sink face forward. At least she was awake now.
"You okay in there?" Elise asked from the other side of the door. "Weh-Yah! Yeah, everythings fine!"
Zyra said while hastily trying to tame the primeval forest on her head. "Just- taking care of the sprouts, you know?" She tried to dry the water that had splashed on the ground. It was quiet for a moment, until Elise said "Actually no, i don't know. But i don't think i want to in the first place."
After quickly brushing her teeth, Zyra changed to her uniform, which fit quite nicely, and opened the door.
"Ta-daa. How do i look?" she asked the already waiting spider-lady. "Like a well-dressed pot-plant" Elise winked. "You look really good! Uniforms seem to suit you well. You must've used a ton of make up to hide that Frankenstein you showed earlier."
Zyra blushed a little."I actually don't use any make-up at all.." Elise opened her eyes wide. "Nothing at all? Don't you dare to make me jealous at your first day, plant-lady."
Zyra giggled "It's just natural cosmetics..."
Her eyes caught the shelf next to the lockers of Elise and Kai'Sa. It was filled to the brim with colorful books. Elise noticed her inquiring looks. "Don't worry, thats not academy stuff you have to work through. Thats the other thing Kai spends her money on besides plushies: Ionian comics, you know, the ones you have to read the other way around. Here " she tossed Zyra her shoulder bag.
"I packed your bag while you were flooding the bathroom. We should hurry to catch up to Kai." Zyra opened the bag, inside were some books, pencils and a notebook, but nothing special. Nothing that shows a major difference to her time at school.
"Uh, sure, thanks!" she said, a little bit disenchanted.
