: When a S9 Master is stuck in Plat 4 with a negative winrate one of 2 things are happening The player was one of those MMR abusers from early Season 9 and is now getting his just deserves or The ranked system is that bad that people just cannot climb.
Most likely the first one :) Glad the reset was heavier this time around.
: i used to be master and now hardstuck P4 but im 1 vs 9 every game i can only win by solo carrying games
Yes but I'll bet Teemo's ass off you're not facing P4's then, but around your own Elo. If you need to 1v9 every game, I think you'll have a much easier time in a couple of weeks after the storm settles.
: Actually they do... they are squishy damage dealers who have to kill off the hardest to reach player on the enemy team and kill them... this means they’ve gotta get the correct moment to go in tracking important cooldowns, navigate their own kit and skillshots in an extremely quick fashion (so doing a combo in the correct way hitting the correct target all within a second), then get back out without having a support or tank mess them up This makes them harder than adcs who just need good positioning, mages who just need target selection, and tanks who’s the easiest class in the game (and this is coming from a tank main). And yes simplicity doesn’t always equal unskillfulness... but it did with akali.
Squishy damage dealer? adc, mages, a ton of supports, junglers and some top laners check. needs to track important cooldowns? every role has to do that, it's part of the game. navigate their own kit and skillshots in an extremely quick fashion? oh, so spamming keys in a specific order and knowing the kit of the champion you choose, is an indication of skill? even bronze players do that, albeit not as effectively :p I'd say everything you wrote about good positioning, target selection, navigating kits and tracking cooldowns is just as important for every other role in the game, by your definition especially for supports compared to assassins. Just look at Lulu for example. Everything you wrote fits her much more indicative than any assassin in the game. As a support main myself I've climbed to Diamond on multiple accounts playing adc, support and mid, all on different champions, some of which I first timed in ranked and just went along with afterwards. The climb didn't feel any more skill heavy when I was spamming keys on Katarina, Zed or Pyke mid being able to burst opponents down in the matter of <3 seconds, than when I played Bard/Nautilus support, Yasuo/MF/Xayah/kogmaw adc. Especially with the current changes to summoner's rift this season, where midlane and toplane are getting more exp than ever before, letting them assert their dominance one step further, while gutting botlane and jungle.
: P1 is the highest you can possibly place after reset. MMR is still masters, the games that person plays will still be correctly matched. D4 down to gold 1, again the MMR will still match this account with d4 players from last season. And this player is still matching g1 rank despite the loss streak. Are you really trying to suggest something is wrong?
I am not suggesting anything is wrong, I am saying the system is actually doing what it is supposed to do, reset a part of people's ranks. Yet, many people think the system is punishing them, while that it simply not the case. The system is just making up for last seasons mistakes. Sorry if I didn't make that clear enough in the post.
: Firstly that’s actually what they’ve been doing... the vast majority of reworks are to fix stat checking... a champion jumping at an opponent and either they die or the opponent dies without any variation isn’t fun. And it’s not to do with ‘simple’ champions... Warwick was a stat checker, now he’s much less so. Stat checking just isn’t hrslthy regardless It’s especially not healthy on assasins, the point of why they are allowed such high burst and mobility is that they are difficult, they outplay their opponents rather than stat check them... that way when they try to kill it’s the better player that comes out, and the enemy has a way to survive. Akali never had that before making her very unhealthy
Implying assassins require skill is questionable. I wouldn't say assassins require any more skill than adc's, mages or even tanks. There isn't anything in Akali's kit that that is more skill oriented than other champs, let alone her old kit. Simplicity doesn't equal unskillness. She is, just like before, a bursting assassin. Just with a harder to balance, more unhealthy kit.

Maybe, maybe not. Same champion pool since s5. It was far from a singular occurrence in s9, you'd be matched with these players almost every single game. Some of them are def. boosted, others ran on the LP wave from S9's failed reset. I am just happy that this season is looking more promising thus far ^_^

Yep and look at previous ranks, then current rank. System works as intended.

Ah you're prob. right, I usually play on EUNE and we almost never experience these problems. I just don't see the point of a forum post if it's the servers, if he mentioned that I would have written something else :p
: I would disagree... the amount of balancing required isn’t indicitive of a successful or failed rework as the goal isn’t to rework a champion to instantly balance them If we look at the goals of the akali rework it was to increase variation in combos, create visible skill expression, and to reduce point click to open up avenues for outplay potential. All of these goals where reached in the akali rework... she needed further changes but it’s at the point where a revert would be a step back, meaning a successful rework... albeit not the most successful one there was but successful non the less.
Guess they will need to rework every champion with point and click then, and not everyone favors ''various different variations on combos (not that this 'new' one has anything vastly innovative)''. Nothing wrong with simple champions. I don't see that as an actual argument for a rework. Just because they're not reverting her back, doesn't mean it was an successful rework. My point is that they wasted resources (and still are) on something that would've been much easier to balance. Constantly removing stuff from the kit, adding new stuff to it etc clearly shows to me, that they don't know how to balance her. Before she didn't have any noticeable CC, meaning they could've just given her the Kassadin treatments aka. balancing her scalings, stats etc.

Diamonds won't drop to Bronze, but gold/very low plat depending on how high up in Diamond they were. Which is fine I think.

So the system works, that's good to know.

: just wait some weeks, so you dont play with or against players that are normally a lot higher than you or are a lot lower than u.
Exactly this. Going straight into ranked from the get go is high risk high reward, not suited for everybody.
: How the %%%% bronze 2 are matched vs gold 2?
Golds starts in bronze/silver. Don't look at current ranking, but at previous seasons rank and win rates. If it's a Gold 4 who went 3/7 in provisionals, then he'd most likely start in bronze. And why are you typing from a level 24 account?
: Star Guardian Morgana Fan Art
: Akali had major issues with counter play and outplay potential or therelack of... stat checker, she either killed or got killed nothing a victim could do. While her rework wasn’t massively successful it did solve many of her issues... if riot spent that time balancing akali we’d be in an even bigger mess than before. Same for irelia
Let's agree to disagree. In my optics if any champion needs the amount of balancing that Akali has gotten (and is still getting), then it's a clear indicator of a failed rework.
CJXander (EUNE)
: Why is this even allowed?
People asking why you didn't communicate and swap roles... Assuming there's any major communication going on in champ select, or people actually looking up every members main role. Get off your high horses, I bet you'd be mad as well if this were to happen to you too.
: Akali needs some changes!
Yep failed rework if you ask me. Imagine if they spent the same amount of time on balancing the old Akali that they used on reworking her + all the changes they did afterwards? Just imagine... Same goes for Irelia etc.
: Misconceptions of League, and why you are not climbing.
Read the whole thing. I fully agree, albeit I still believe s9 was a special case of utter shit. S10's harder reset has helped a lot, but not enough to reach pre-s9 just yet. I do believe elo-hell exist, but not in the basis that it's a specific elo, but the highest elo you find yourself in, that you can't get past. Would prob. not even call it elo-hell, but Elo-wall instead, seems like a much more appropriate term.
: Those are their flexQ ranks. In soloQ I think they were all around D4, except Zac who was Grandmaster
Well in that case the matchmaking was pretty much on point, besides Zac, but since he was prob. duo it turned out this way.
: My ISP told me it will take 2 weeks for an tier 2 agent to start analyzing this, IDK but it doesn't seem like it would be so advanced to locate the problem.. Was planning on changing ISP but they are the only company that delivers fibre internet to my address so it's not possible.
That really sucks man, hope you get it sorted out. Do you have high ping or unable to play entirely?
PurpleOrk (EUW)
: There's going to be a lot of people telling you your level doesn't matter. It's all in the hidden score determined by your matches: MMR. Truth is, in no case accounts made a month ago should be placed by default in placement matches of gold MMR, as they are right now. The matchmaking should assume a new account has no idea what they are doing, and start their placement from the bottom. If they do well enough (detecting a secondary account or a smurf), progressively increase the MMR of their placement matches. But the goal here is using new accounts in matches they have no business being in, so they can shut down people's progress up the ladder. You're just being used to ruin someone else's game. Your suffering is just collateral damage.
After all the tweaks they made to the ranked system, the average MMR you start at when playing ranked on a fresh acc is now Silver 1 / Gold 4-3. I guess that means, that if you play averagely for a lvl. 30-40 guy, this is the actual elo you should be playing in. If he consistently plays against that elo-range, maybe he just simply belongs there.
: ???
Too many variables to make fair teams in FlexQ. Like how is it fair that, let's say a P4 guy who is D4 in Flex is allowed to play with a Master XX LP SoloQ player who also happens to be D4 in flex? Just because they're both D4 in flex doesn't necessarily mean they're the same skill-level, thus making these weird looking matches.

Well it sort of was, but ok. Anyhow, nothing wrong with ranked, it is as 'bad' as it has always been. You demoting from G1 to G4 is purely based on your performance and your MMR, thus dropping. Now, either your performance worsened, maybe due to tilt (which is why I requested you to take a break) or you're slowly reaching your actual rank. Good luck on the rift, Summoner!
: Is Ranked Scuffed
Just take a small break. And once you start again, quit after losing 2 or so games (if you're still losing now :o). Tilt is the biggest factor, don't let it get the better of you. GL on the rift! {{sticker:slayer-jinx-catface}}

''4.If you try to defend smurfs by telling me to get better, I understand your point, but that implies I have the same amount of time to play competitive as they do, which trust me, it's not the case.'' : Nah, it really doesn't suck And i wouldn't change anything tbh, we already get a shit ton of free stuff from riot Hextech chests, events with free stuff, free stuff from the tft pass, ranked and honor rewards Hell, just recently we had the league 10 year anniversary event where we got SO MUCH free stuff They even give us Your shop multiple times a year for some spicy discounts And don't forget the BE emporium twice a year, tons of stuff for BE which you can get easily for free And if we're being honest, you don't need any of this stuff. It's a f2p game
The 10 year annieversary was amazing indeed :D. This is by far the most 'expensive' f2p game ever for me at least. TFT pass? most TFT players stopped playing, I for one don't care about TFT, it's not a part of league of legends, since it's considered a standalone game. Ranked rewards/honor rewards are nice. Your shop isn't 'free', just a discount, which is normal. BE Emporium? a business move to make you spend all your hard worked BE on lousy items (I always get hooked though, usually spend 100k BE on chromas alone every time <3). I agree, we don't need any of this stuff, but as humans, we have an innate desire of always wanting (seeking) more. That is just how we're programmed, and the f2p aspect relies on those perimeters. Neuroscientist Jaak Panksepp argues that the human brain works with seven core instincts (anger, fear, panic-grief, maternal care, pleasure/lust, play, and seeking) and mentions that seeking is the most important one. Besides, even Activision/Blizzard has introduced these passes in the new Modern Warfare game where you can basically grind enough points for another free pass (and then some) for as little as 10 Euros for a lifetime of passes. The grind in that game is bonkers though, but still not as bad as grinding for prestige skins.

52% wr D4 flex here. I usually meet low diamonds/low-mid-high plats in flex 5v5. I usually duo with 1 person of similar rank, maybe try that? Honestly flex is just weird. Also remember that in flex D4's can duo with P4's, which might fluctuate the matchmaking even more.

PurpleOrk (EUW)
: If you lose 10 matches after going down to 0lps your mmr is going to rise? No, it's going down as well. The shield isn't gonna last you 21 losses unless you got from iron 4 to silver 4 without losing a single match and THEN lose the 21 matches in a row while at 0lp and new in silver, because your mmr is so boosted it takes a time to catch up and drop below the demotion threshold. The point in any case was that the demotion exists and it's not hard under regular circumstances to go from silver to bronze, you just need to trust the matchmaking.
Demoting when you're at the 4th tier is ALWAYS hard. I've played since season 1 and has never demoted while being on the 4th division of a tier (5th division before). I never said demotion doesn't exist. My point is just that you either need to tilt a shitton of games in a row or be significantly worse than your elo-range to demote while being on the 4th division. Those 21 losses were while being on 0 LP btw. No wonder people complain about Plat 4/Diamond 4 etc when it is 'close' to impossible to demote once you're there (this is another reason why so many people get bad LP gains in D4, simply too many people stationed there).
PurpleOrk (EUW)
: I deranked I think two times season 8 and three times season 9 from silver to bronze. Get your bull out of here.
No bull here. You derank from 4th divisions to lower tiers based on your MMR. Your MMR must simply have been really low. Longest I went was about 8 losses in a row (at 0 LP, last seasons preseason) - and I didn't demote.
