: As long as you play, and win, you'll climb. For me, it's really the opposite; I play far more normal games than ranked ones, so my normal MMR is probably higher than it is in ranked. Normals also allow players of all levels in skill gaps to queue up together, meaning that "balance" can be harder to achieve.
Okay that i understand, the problem for me is that i can't just learn how to play a champ in rankeds without wasting the time of 4 people and to make normals somewhat close to rankeds i first have play a shit-ton of normals which i dont want to play. Edit: Hence, i only play normals to practice or play with friends, one of which purposes they don't fulfill.

: Normal queue and ranked queue have their own MMR ratings. If you keep playing, you'll climb there as well. Climbing in normal and ranked is actually the exact same thing, there's just no visible ranking system tied to it.
If there's no catch-up mechanic, that's plainly a bad system. I mean it's painful for me to have a supp that has zero clue what to do and it's painful for them when i pop off due to sheer difference in game knowledge and skill. For me trying to practice a role or champion in Normals now completly defeats the purpose.

: I haven't noticed any change in no matter what role I play. It's always a mixed bag from diamond to gold and sometimes a silver. I doubt my elo is the exact same on all roles though.
Do you play all roles in ranked?
: I didn't play ranked since the new Season started, but wow, is that really the case? Are you now judged by the role you're playing, and not by your actualy elo? To me that sounds like a big mistake in the system, makes me want to play ranked even less.
This is in normals as stated. On OP.GG i get an average (OP.GG-)MMR difference of around +300 for my team, skewed by my MMR. That is not the case when i play support.

: I don't see why we would need that. The whole direction of LoL is to make this a social game, and frankly I am happy with having to deal with something new, and it's not bothering me anymore - actually, it reduces the chances of me starting a game without a friend. Social minimization was a thing back in old client, because it simply allowed more space. Here, the form factor of client is bigger, so the space is there, and there is no real need for conservation. I actually like it.
