As correct as you are in saying that I shouldn't waste time talking, you can't deny that riot failing to tell a quotation from what a person actually says is wrong, and so is punishing people in these instances. > Yes. But in reality it is also your fault since there have been plenty of posts already that said "i got banned for quoting this players saying k y s". > It's like accusing a history book of being a nazi-fascist one for reporting what the nazi-fascist ideology was all about. I accuse those damn historians for manufacturing history. I doubt everything happend how it is presented.
This has been my first ever post in the boards, I don't follow what is going on and I don't think that I am supposed to. So no, the bot is faulty and should either be fixed, or people shouldn't be punished for quoting other people. > I accuse those damn historians for manufacturing history. I doubt everything happend how it is presented. Definitely some things were lost in ~~translation~~ victory, however my point stands.
: You should understand, that smart ping system was not always part of this game first of all. And you can not ping something like 'i will focus top lane this game, so try to play your lane safe' as a general statement . If I ping going to herald and backping my botlane at level 3, they will think I'm %%%%ing stupid and rightly so. If you want your team to group at baron, but only bait the enemy into a fight instead of starting it, a short 'let's bait baron' is much faster and clearer than using some kind of combination of pings to show that you want to go to baron, but not to start baron. Sure, maybe with some cool crazy 6 ping combo you might make some people understand it well, but using the chat you can make sure there are no misunderstandings much better. There are many useful and good ways to use the chat, and if you would limit yourself to only use the chat for those instead of thinking it's tinder 2.0, you will have a much better time and so will your team. And you abusing the chat and then saying it should just be removed, because it is irrelevant to the game, is like saying league should just stop their service, because trolls exist in league and league isn't relevant to having a fullfilled life.
If riot ever announced that they are getting rid of the chat in ranked games, I would be the first to congratulate them for what is, in my opinion, the best move they can possibly make to deal with toxicity. Those instances that you mentioned where "pings can't replace actual communication" are so rare and so often they are unnecessary - as in even if you actually prepare a baron bait, it naturally just turns into a baron, or it doesn't happen, or it was gonna happen regardless of the instruction. And the same is valid for any other example that I can think of. And I'm saying this from experience - I have played half a whole season with chat hidden, unable to type and in many cases unable to even see pings (when I was particularly tilted), and that was when I first hit diamond. And no, that's not a good comparison that you've made, because League DOES have a toxicity problem and it's directly related to the existence of the chat. Even the measures league takes to lower the toxicity, like chat bans and even permanent bans do not work. Chat banned people can still be toxic af (once every 4 minutes? I think? I literally did 10 arams in a row and got rid of mine so I don't even remember lol), and people who get permabanned just get a new account and carry on being toxic there. Removing the chat would 100%, no exceptions, remove the toxicity in the chat, and what we'll be left to deal with would be inting and trolling cases. A new comparison would be: while you are talking about lowering the amount of nicotine in cigarettes, I'm suggesting making cigarettes illegal, even if there are people who do not have a smoking problem. I would finally just leave you with what a rioter told me in the ticket I sent them about this chat ban: "Any behavior that could disrupt another player's experience in the game (well, except killing the enemy team and defeating them thoroughly, that's kind of the point of the game) may qualify as toxicity." Can't you see how vague this is? Literally ANYTHING can be toxic. From "%%% u mom" to "Gl everyone", as the paraphrase of that sentence is basically "it's very subjective". He also added: > Throughout this game you engaged in argumentative behavior with another player. Even if he was provoking you or bringing up the subject first, the recommended course of action is to ignore such provocations, and not to engage with the player making them. This will only result in an atmosphere of conflict and team dissonance that ultimately does not positively contribute to the experience in any way, detracting from all players and their attention to them game. > While I have repeatedly said, throughout this thread that I should have, indeed, just muted that Riven and Thresh, this explanation leaves me baffled as what he's asking of me is not to just 'do something', in this case mute a player, but adopt a certain personality. "Not engaging in argumentative behaviour" is a personality trait, some people, even irl, manage to simply ignore any kind of personal attack, while others are prone to respond to those, but it's how they do it that matters. If someone goes "%%% u mom" irl and I respond "no %%% U mom" I haven't really done anything to improve the situation, but if I go "why, what's the problem?" I am definitely "engaging in argumentative behaviour" but I'm still improving the situation whilst standing up for myself, compared to blindly hitting back with the same kind of toxicity. To sum up, I really don't see the problem with 'engaging in argumentative behaviour' if I'm doing it in a non-toxic manner, like I believe I have done in this case. If I'm wrong (that I haven't been toxic), then so be it, but I would like you to point out the toxic bits.
: Wanna post unedited chat logs. I wanna be able to objectively judge the whole thing, without someone rambling. I don't care about what happened, neither does the system that punished you. It's irrelevant that you got filled jungle, or if someone doubted you being an OTP. So yea, post logs pls.

So just play and stop talking.
Well that's clearly a fault in the rito bot. As correct as you are in saying that I shouldn't waste time talking, you can't deny that riot failing to tell a quotation from what a person actually says is wrong, and so is punishing people in these instances. It's like accusing a history book of being a nazi-fascist one for reporting what the nazi-fascist ideology was all about.
: It's there to communicate about the game. You know stuff like 'care bot' or 'let's prepare dragon' or 'Hey bot lane, try to play safe, because I'll focus on getting top ahead and take first turret in top lane with herald' or 'we need to step up our vision game, let's all get some control wards' You know that kinda stuff. And if you provide the log for people to judge, you should just copy paste, and put your explanation below.
"Care bot" is pingable. "Let's prepare for dragon" is pingable. "Hey bot lane, try to play safe, because I'll focus on getting top ahead and take first turret in top lane with herald" is far too unnecessarily articulate and it can be summed up with a "care ping" bot and an "omw ping" top followed by herald ping. "we need to step up our vision game, let's all get some control wards" is pingable. I've had entire games and entire stretches of seasons in which I would hide chat and mute everyone (to be sure) so that I don't have to read all the unnecessary things that are written. I think that ultimately, in ranked matches, the chat is utterly irrelevant and shouldn't even be there. But that's for a different day. Also, yes, I realise that it's not easy to read it the way I put it, perhaps a better formatting would have helped.

: You should omit the context that was a little hard to read. League doesnt account for context anyways. But never has anyone got banned for toxicity when they were just minding their business and playing the game. You can do that too.
I know I can, I know I should have, I know I am going to do it more often, but the point of my thread is to show my presumed toxicity. Do you find that my behaviour in this game was bad enough for me to get a chat ban?
: Calling people trash will get you 10 game chat restricted. Also combined with asking for reports.
I never called anyone trash, the one time you see it, I was quoting Riven in all chat.

: Ah, another keyboard warrior, you know you're supposed to play, not chat, this ain't facebook or boards.
If we're not supposed to chat, why is the chat there? Also in which instance have I been a keyboard warrior, exactly?
: After over 2 years of my main being banned, I can safely say that I do feel that arguing and talking too much can have a very negative effect on games. Even I still do it sometimes when I get really tilted and then the 10 game chat ban brings me back to the reality that I just need to calm down and ignore people, and when I see other people doing it between themselves it just tilts me super hard so I mute them both and carry on. Sitting in my top lane island and watching my mid laner and bot lane arguing with each other over who sucks more just sucks and brings down team morale, and as does the surrender vote at 15 lol. I'd say try to see it from that perspective, but I get if you still think it's completely ridiculous. In a way it kinda is, but kinda isn't imo. Theres probably some other games you've been reported for though, even if they haven't shown up as chat logs, learned that one the hard way many times ;-; {{sticker:slayer-jinx-catface}}
Well I would be satisfied with a rioter showing me those games, then. Because I used to have games after which I was paranoid that the chat ban was imminent, sometimes it happened, other times it didn't, but today I was really, REALLY caught off guard. There was no doubt whatsoever in my mind that there wouldn't have been consequences for me after that game, and even when I started the next one and noticed that I was chat banned, I thought that "it must have been some of the games in the past week/weeks". So I was again shocked to see it was, in fact, 'only' the one in this thread. And ye I completely get you. I guess I will use the macro for quite some time now. Imagine, I'm so [redacted] up in my head that I open 10+ instances of the macro, so that turning it off mid-game is tedious and I just give up on it. Might need therapy after all.
: I really think you need to calm down buddy, I was simply reiterating what I was told when my old main account was perma banned for this exact reason :/ Unfortunatly I'm not a rioter so I can't give you the EXACT details and my crystal ball is out at the washers right now.
Uh, I genuinely didn't mean to come across as aggressive, I apologise for that. I have had perma banned accounts as well, implying that I used to be an actual little [redacted], so in my ways I am very much used to this. And it would be easy to think that this is yet another generic ban-whiny thread (which perhaps is), but I think it really is clear that this game alone is hardly report worthy. And about the reasons riot gave you, I meant to give you my solidarity by stating how absurd that is. I was addressing riot, there, for punishing you for such a dumb reason, which I really struggle to comprehend. And by the way, I do use the enter button macro you mentioned below, sometimes. The fact that I didn't think it was necessary for this game speaks for itself, I believe.
: That won't be the only game you've been reported in, that will just be a recent one. You chat too much and argue back with other players instead of just muting them and getting on with the game. This tilts your team and if any of it is in all chat you can get reported for that as well, you don't have to get reported for toxicity. You can also get reported and banned for chatting too much and arguing back. I've had it done to me before for arguing back, so I either mute people and get on with it or just ignore them. Gl on the climb back to honor 2 {{sticker:sg-kiko}}
I have had chat bans before, and they have always had 3 games (never 1) attached to them. And if you really wanna know, there have been fairly recent games in which I argued with much more anger than that, but they haven't been included in the chat ban report. I wonder why. "You can get reported and banned for chatting too much and arguing back." I have absolutely no clue as to how or why should that be punishable. If you could, please tell me where in the summoner code it is written that 'chatting too much' is against the rules. If that really were the case, shouldn't riot just set a limit on how much people can chat per game? Because this is ACTUALLY what you're saying. That 'chatting a little is ok, chatting too much is a problem', and giving everyone a chat restriction (I don't know, 100 messages per game? Too many?) would very simply enforce that. Also this post is really not exactly about 'avoiding the chat ban', but rather stating how, in my opinion, this is not a chat-ban worthy game. So you suggesting me to mute everyone (which I completely agree with, I should do it much more often than I actually do) is irrelevant.
