I usually don't look away, my vision sticks to the screen. Thereby my vision is not in any way or form restricted. Opening a menu and looking for something like a button and then hit it costs me vision and actually forces me to move my mouse. Hence hindering me in movement and reading the enemy for an entire second. And if you have no perspective on what that means, it is really bad.

I hit a button with more precision and faster than I can open a menu, yes. And having something visual interfere with a game is in general a bad design decision. During the laning phase hitting a button, to mute yourself since your roommate asked you something, you have to cough, your phone starts to ring, shouldn't you force to leave the visual focus of the lane. And threshold is something you should be able to fix yourself.
